Obituary of Verna Hyde
It is with great sadness that the family of Verna Hyde of Truro, Nova Scotia announces her passing at the age of 93 on December 23, 2021 after a short illness.
Born and raised in Long River, Prince Edward Island, she was a graduate of Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown, and most of her working life was spent as a loyal employee of H. L. Sear Insurance in Charlottetown. She also played an important part in the family business, Hyde Milling & Transport. Verna showed her family and friends unwavering support and love. She was the rock in our family. She was a caregiver, smart, sweet, kind and fair. She loved feeding people, and, and never let you leave her house without a package to go. She had a quick sense of humour, and perhaps her greatest accomplishment was to move through this world and depart it leaving us with only good memories.
She was predeceased by her parents, David and Gertie Paynter, and her husband of 71 years, Roland earlier this year. She will be sadly missed by her three children, Reg (Judy), Marilyn (Derek), and Marlene; three grandsons, Rick, Jarrod, and Devon; two granddaughters, (her Princesses) Gillian and Ambera; and four great grandchildren, Joey, Ryan, Ash, and Dresdon.
A graveside service for Verna will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the West River United Church in Cornwall, PEI.
Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Colchester SPCA.
