Obituary of Michael Robert McCloskey

Michael Robert McCloskey of Charlottetown and formerly of Hampshire passed away with his family by his side suddenly from an illness at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the age of 76 years.

Beloved husband of 40 years to Nancy Crawford. Beloved father of Craig (Cindy) and Michelle Boulter (Terry) and stepfather of Ken Crawford and Scott Crawford. Grampy of Caitlyn, Cyla, Malcolm, Brody, Madeleine and Isabelle. Brother of Clarence (Anne), and Frank (Ellen) and Sharon Waite (Robert). Brother-in-law of Donna McLeod (Terry) and Carrie Costain. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Emily (Jewett) McCloskey and brother in law Kier Costain.

Mike was a long time potato farmer with his family farm RW McCloskey Farms. After retiring he enjoyed his Tractor Pulling Competitions and adventures. Mike also after retirement enjoyed driving the School bus for 20 years loving the interaction with “his” kids on the bus. Mike also enjoyed doing snow removal. He would often take his grandchildren fishing and loved to play pool with his friends. He will be missed by his furball Elmer.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. No visitation or funeral service by personal request.

Family and friends are invited to join Michael’s loved ones for his Celebration of Life on Wednesday June 12, 2024 from 6pm-8pm at the Haviland Club, 2 Haviland Street, Charlottetown.  It is a casual event where you are welcome to join friends and family sharing in great memories and stories of Michael and his love for family, friends, farming, tractor pulls, and driving bus 131.  There will be light refreshments, coffee and tea, and a cash bar.
