Obituary of Maureen Theresa Monaghan

With heavy hearts, the family of Maureen Monaghan announce her sudden passing at her Charlottetown home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

 

Maureen was an avid Crokinole player and enjoyed playing and competing in tournaments. In years gone by, she and Paul enjoyed many trips around Atlantic Canada admiring the beautiful landscapes and enjoying their time together. Maureen enjoyed music and often attended ceilidhs, appreciating the many Island musicians.

 

Maureen was a strong and determined woman who cared deeply for her family and friends and she was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Paul.  Maureen worked tirelessly to ensure her husband had the care he needed after becoming disabled. She cherished her family beyond words and as a devoted mother and grandmother, they brought her much joy.

 

Maureen was a loving and dedicated mother to Jason (Natasha) and step daughter to Samantha Monaghan (Ritchie), and cherished grandmother to Harper and Tucker and step-grandchildren to Destiny, Max, Matthew and Breanna. She will be missed by her brothers Derek Richard (Susan) and Ronald Richard (Janelle) and numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband Paul David Monaghan, parents Henry and Alice (Pineau) Richard, parents-in-law Roland and Elsie (Brown) Monaghan, son Blair and grandson Luke.

 

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford from where a funeral service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:30 am followed by interment at the People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be on Sunday 4-6 pm.

 

Memorial donations may be made online to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

 

Maureen will be deeply missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
