Mervin Power

Obituary of Mervin Joseph Power

It is with profound sadness, but with peace in their hearts, that the family of Mervin Joseph Power announce his passing on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Mervin passed surrounded by his wife of 44 years, Mary, and daughters Melissa (Carlo) and Lana (Matt).

Mervin was born on May 17, 1952, in Montague, Prince Edward Island. Mervin grew up with his close siblings, older brothers George (Patricia) and Earl (Hennie) and younger sister Geri Morrison (Frank). He is predeceased by his father Louis Power, and survived by his mother Dorothy (Dunn) Power. He is also predeceased by close family friend, John Woodgate. He had great memories growing up with his family in Montague before moving to Charlottetown in 1962.

You would never hear a negative word said about Mervin. A family man of faith, first to lend a hand and donate his time and his positive attitude, are the things his family and friends will forever cherish. Mervin enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Redeemer Church, and always had love for his family, ball, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Not a day will go by that his girls aren’t forever grateful for everything he instilled in them, and for the many years of wonderful memories.

The family would like to thank the incredible nurses, doctors and PCWs at QEH. Special thanks to Dr. Boswall, Dr. Jones, Dr. Pan, Dr. Stewart, Dr. Taylor, and Dr. Whitlock.

No visiting hours by personal request. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Roman Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests online donations to QEH Cancer Treatment Centre or the Renal Clinic at QEH.
