Obituary of Ronald Francis MacDonald

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Francis James MacDonald of Webster’s Corner, PEI on Sunday, January 30, 2023, in his 83rd year.

Beloved husband of Mary Josephine (Joie); loving father of Michelle, Rachel (Tim Shields), Sara (Darryl Chamberlin), Ian (Shanna), Paul (Sarah), and Katie (Dylan Blaker.) Devoted Grampy to Jacob, Anna, James, Veronica, Lowell, Lila, John, Leo, Eli, Val, and Arthur. Ron was looking forward to meeting his 12th grandchild due March 2023. He is survived by his siblings Mabel Toler (Gregory, deceased), Sydney (Agnes), Carl (Genevieve, deceased), Susan Farmer (Michael), and Valerie MacDonald (Gerard), his in-laws Rosemary (Bill Rooney), Helen MacDonald, and Paul Manuel (Vivian), as well as his many nieces and nephews.   Ron is predeceased by his parents, Maude and Valerius, his siblings Claire Muise and her husband Hal, Archibald, Augustus, Ian, Isabel, and Rogers.

Ron was a teacher at Queen Charlotte Intermediate School until his retirement in 1999. He loved the poetry of Robert Burns, spending time in nature, feeding the birds (but NOT the squirrels), and staring up at the Night Sky. 

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours in his honour will be held Friday Feb 3 from 4-7pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday Feb 4 at 11:00 from St Patrick’s Parish Church in Fort Augustus. There will be a reception following the Mass at Paddy’s Pub at the Fort Augustus Rec Centre.  Interment will take place later at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
