I'm very sorry to hear about Mr. MacLennan's passing. He was my grade 7 homeroom teacher at Birchwood ( 78-79 ) and I remember him as being a kind teacher. In the 90's and 2000's sometimes I'd see him sitting on a bench in the Charlottetown Mall, and I'd say; " Hello, Mr. MacLennan!" He knew that we were connected through the school system and always responded back with a big smile and a hello. Seeing the pictures posted by his family, really showed the personal side of Mr. MacLennan, and how he must've been a great Father to them. Mr. MacLennan had a long life, and I'm sorry to hear it ended so tragic....I wish the family all the best in the coming days and weeks. PEACE IN CHRIST, Mr. MacLennan.

One of my best memories with Papa was when I was about 8 and one of the tires blew on my bike, and he stopped by just as it happened with me upset and crying. He helped me take apart the tire and he took it back to his place to find a new tube and came back and had gotten it all fixed for me. He was always ready to help us with anything we needed. Very good memories with him growing up. More good times with him with all of our farm animals and him teaching us all about them and making the funniest chicken sounds. This is such hard news. I will always love and miss you, Papa.

There are so many good memories with Papa that it's hard to choose just one. I remember him coming to visit us, always starting off with "G'day!" in his thick maritime accent. I remember him telling me "A true MacLennan sneezes when they look up at the sun." Needless to say, I found I was a true MacLennan. He used to stop by on his way home to say goodbye to us while we were ice skating in the field, "See ya later alligator!" or "See ya in a while, crocodile!" I remember thinking he was so smart when it came to fixing bike chains, cranking up the old tractor and showing me how to hold a kitten without getting scratched. He enjoyed a good laugh while we kids put on little skits around the holidays and joined us in some good-natured jokes. I loved listening to his stories of the Island when he was a kid and how his eyes lit up while he told us those stories. I miss you, Papa and I love you. Rest in peace. See ya in a while, crocodile.
