I heard from a mutual friend about Paul’s passing. I received this news with sadness. I knew him and was friends with him in the 1980’s when we both worked together in Nova Scotia. I lost touch with him several years ago with much regret. As mentioned by others he had some wonderful qualities - his unconditional empathy, wonder at the world, loyalty. These will keep his memory alive with those who knew and cared for him. I’m glad you came this way. My condolences to his family on your loss.

I met Paul at UPEI. A decade later, we were coworkers at DFO. As "Islanders away from home", we often shared youthful memories. I knew Pauls as having a keen wit, deep faith, an inner kindness and a strong love of family. When scanning old PEI newspapers a few years ago, I came across a clipping and photo of Paul as a youth. I saved it, but never got to share it with Paul, as we haven't crossed paths for a few years. To me, Paul's youthful look of amazement at technology summarized his later cateer choice. I feel that he retained this through to adulthood. Carl Myers, Halifax

I was very shocked and saddened to read about Paul’s passing. I worked with Paul at Fisheries and Oceans Canada and quickly realized what a decent person he was; he was very caring and would do whatever was necessary to help. He was a great listener. My female friends were very attracted to Paul’s good looks, but that did not impress Paul!! I’m so happy to have known him and my condolences go out to his entire family. May Paul Rest In Peace.
