In the last few days, life has been a challenge for so many of our friends, family, and neighbours. My friends and family have been reaching out to those in need. Helping is what neighbourhoods do. Communities are remembering what community is all about. Growing up in Crossroads, across the backyard and over the street from the Spidels, I would have worn a path with the amount of times I ran up to play. Michael was one of my best friends. I can’t even imagine how many hours we spent in their yard, on their hammock or sandbox, in their yard playing jailbreak, or making snow forts in the yard. We built the most epic snow luge of all time! How many ball hockey games right off the bus? Out of the cold, we were always welcomed in for cookies and hot chocolate from Claire. There was even a moment in time when the entire family, including Claire, watched as Michael and I wrapped the first Zelda game together. So many wonderful memories. Claire was such a kind person, a beautiful soul. It’s people like Claire in our early years that leave a such a positive mark. Claire and Dennis and the boys were always there for my family in the most difficult of times, I hope they know I’ll always be there for theirs.
