Obituary of Lorna Jean Murray-MacPherson
Peacefully, with family by her side, the death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on September 3, 2022, of Lorna Jean Murray-MacPherson of Charlottetown. Beloved partner and wife of John S. MacPherson (Jack) for over 41 years. Loving mother of Wendy Elizabeth Murray (Corey DesRoches) of Miscouche; step-mother of Donna Lee MacPherson of Montague and Kerri Wynne MacLeod of Charlottetown; and foster-mother of Merlin McDonald (Tammy) of Brackley.
Lorna is also survived by grandchildren Ashley Deveaux (Ryan Wilkie), Rebecca Deveaux-Shovar (Dorell Shovar), Jordan Deveaux, Tanner Murray (Chelsea Fraser), Thomas Murray and Alexis Murray (Jaylynn Jones); foster grandchildren Abigail, Darien and Andrew MacDonald; and step-granddaughter Meghan Skerry (Cory). Great-grandmother of Aubrey Matthews, Fox and Mace Shovar and step-great-grandmother of Willow Skerry.
Lorna is also survived by her brother James “Jimmy” Peabody (Diane) of Wickham, NB, sister Elizabeth “Betty” Lyon (Ron, deceased) of London, Ontario, sisters-in-law Roberta Peabody of BC, Trudy Hughes (Jimmy, deceased) of Summerside and Anna Kiernan (Dan) of California. Also fondly remembered by the Morrison / Heald Families and former daughter-in-law Shanna (Lloyd) Phillips of Freeland.
Predeceased by her first husband Maurice Willard Murray Jr. (1946-1975); daughter Andrea May Stephanie Murray (1967-1976); son James “Scott” Murray (1970-2006); step-granddaughter Olivia Ruth MacLeod (1993-2012); brother Reginald Peabody and sisters Mabel Lagasse (Ron) and Nancy Cameron (Ray). "Auntie Lorna” will be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Born October 2, 1948 in Saint John, NB to the late Frederick Morse Peabody and Helen Eugenie (nee Gray) Peabody, Lorna worked as a hair stylist for over thirty years. She saw beauty in the world around her and captured many a scenery on canvas with her artistic talent. She also loved to write poetry and do baking (especially at Christmas!).
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. No visiting hours by personal request but a public Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 2 pm from the Hillsboro Funeral Home Chapel. All welcome.
Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu, donations to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry or Trinity United Church Benevolent Fund would be appreciated.
