Today, one year after the fact, I learned of Sandra's passing. I knew her when she lived down the street from me in Hanover Ontario, back in 1973-75. We both played the guitar and loved folk music. She turned me onto John Prine whom I'd not heard of, but through that I acquired a deep apreciation of Prine's music. Sandi (as I called her) and I would play our guitars together, hang out, stuff like that. I have not seen or heard from her since 1975.I decided to try to look her up and was devistated to see her obituary. To Sandi's family I send my deepest, warmest, heartfelt condolences. She was exraordinary in so many ways.

To the family of Sandra Jean MacKinnon: Sandi as we knew her, practiced law on the West Coast of Newfoundland for a number of years. She was always a pleasant person to deal with, and she was very competent at her work. It was a pleasure to know her, and we are deeply saddened at her untimely death. I did not have occasion to witness her singing, her guitar playing or her banjo playing, but I certainly wished I had been present when she performed. No doubt she lives vividly in the memory of her family. Trevor, Dave, and I send our sympathies.

I first met Sandi almost thirty years ago. Instantly, I was impressed with her passion to serve to make positive change for people on the margins of society. There was never a we and they with Sandi ,just us. Her integrity, her humour, her ability to walk with and support anyone needing her support was a true gift to any community. Her love of music was legendary and she really looked forward to seeing musical friends when I was with her just two weeks. Our friendship has been a blessing and I have gained so much by knowing her. I love and miss her but will carry memories with me always.

My deepest condolences to Sarah, Sebastian, Julien, Robert and all the family. A strong and loving presence has slipped away. A mere two weeks ago I visited Sandi to play music. When she sang harmonies all thoughts of illness vanished. As I was leaving, she said, “So, should we put together a set list?” I will be in Fredericton this weekend to see my own family, a trip that has been postponed too many times because of Covid, but I will be thinking of her friends and family gathered on Sunday.

I am so sorry to hear of Sandi’s passing. I had the privilege of knowing Sandi when she worked with Legal Aid in Newfoundland and Labrador. I am so sorry to hear the news of Sandi's passing. I had the good fortune of being a classmate of Sandi's at UNB many years ago and her loss will be felt amongst our UNB class. I truly admired her ambition and drive to pursue her law degree as a mature student, and I fondly remember her positive and inclusive attitude, as well as her fun, warm and kind spirit. My heart goes out to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her entire extended family. Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss.

I had the very distinct pleasure of meeting Sandi and working with her at Legal Aid NL. I was so impressed and inspired by her passion for the law and justice, and the depth of compassion she had for her clients. Sandi's warmth, her bright and lively mind, and her humour will stay with me in my memories of her. Thinking of her family and friends, as she will be missed.

Our condolences to Sebastien, Sarah and Julien and your families. I met your Mom at my first MacPicnic in 1973, my first meeting of the family. We were only a few years apart in age and wrote each other for a while She was strong, independent and determined to follow her own path, one she blazed herself.
