Obituary of John Joseph Smith

Peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 the death occurred of John Joseph “Johnny” Smith of Stratford, age 85 years.  Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Gladys (McGuirk) Smith.

Loving father of Helen Hill (Scott), Joseph Smith (Katherine), Carol Ann Power (Kenny), Phyllis Smith, Stephen Smith (Kathy), Blair Smith (Joanne) and Ian Smith (Janice). Cherished grandfather of Jason Hill, Lindsay Kelly (Darcy); Jessica Doyle (Devon), Sean Smith (Melanie); Kaitlyn Power (Marshall Ellis), Darren Power; Andrew, Michael, Emily and Amy Smith; Nicholas Smith; Madelynne Smith, Megan and Emily Doucette. Great-grandfather of Emma and Lucas Kelly; Sophie Doyle; Kai, Sadie and Isaac Smith. John will be missed by sisters Mary McGuirk (Gordon) and Marlene Smith (Fenton) and sister-in-law Betty Smith. Predeceased by his brother Gerald Smith.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford.  Due to current restrictions, there will be no public visitation and a private (invitation only) funeral service will be held.

Interment will take place later at Our Lady of The Assumption Church Cemetery, Stratford.
