Obituary of Gerard Joseph Devine

Gerard Joseph Devine passed away peacefully at the Souris Hospital on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in his 80th year. Devoted husband of 53 years to Jane (Curran). Father of Sean (Alexa), Cary (Tara) and Jason. Grandfather of Charlie, Maggie, Henry, Emily, Thomas, Daniel, Benjamin and Griffin. Brother of Geraldine McKenna. Brother-in-law of Freda Devine, Thelma Devine, Mary Kelly, Frank Curran (Alice), Anna Curran, Rita Curran, Deanna Curran and Harold Gallant. Special uncle of Shelley Devine-Livingstone (Allan) and Bobby McKenna (Francine). Also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Merlin (Eileen), Ebbie, Ernie, Leona Doyle, Rosella Marasciullo (Dave), his brothers- in- law Carl McKenna, John Curran and sister-in-law Cathy Gallant, as well as special niece Darlene Devine. Great singer and storyteller. Clutch-hitting second baseman for the 1956 Peakes Bombers. Taught many kids and grandkids how to fish. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. Due to current restrictions a private family visitation and funeral service will be held. Interment in St. Cuthbert’s Cemetery, St. Teresa. Memorial donations may be made to St. Cuthbert’s Parish Maintenance Fund and Montague Home Care.
