Obituary of John Bertram Lister

John Bertram Lister died peacefully in Mount Stewart on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the age of 95. John is survived by his brother Ernest Lister of Somerset, England, son David Lister (Claudia) of Montague, and his grandchildren Meaghan Lister (Chris Lunt) of Mount Stewart, Stephanie Lister Grey (Cody) of Dover, New Hampshire, Erin Lubrick (Michael) of Waterloo, Ontario, and Amy Kasycz (Adam) of Lethbridge, Alberta, and his eight great grandchildren, Riley and Bentley Lubrick, Ava and John Grey, and Claire, Ryan, Lilah, and Charlotte Kasycz. He is predeceased in death by his wife Joan Kathleen (nee Chapman) and sister Joan Isabelle Lister. John was born in Wallasey, England on February 13, 1925 to Bertram Thomas Lister and Sarah Isabelle (nee Rushton). He served in the British Merchant Marines as 1st Mate of the Chester during World War II. He married Joan on September 20, 1947 in Cheshire, England. He moved to Waterford, Ontario in 1957 where he farmed, and later moved to Dromore, Prince Edward Island in 1979 where he farmed for 40 years. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. No visiting hours or funeral service by request. He will be buried with his wife in Ontario at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank Emily Kate and the nursing staff with Home Care-Palliative Care, Queens County for their care.
