Obituary of Mervin MacInnis

The death occurred suddenly, in his 89th year, at Andrew’s of Stratford on July 25, 2018, of Mervin MacInnis. Beloved husband of Uldene MacInnis (nee Arsenault) of 32 years, and predeceased by his first wife Eileen MacInnis (nee Murray) of 16 years. Born July 1, 1930 in Souris River. Son of Kay and Charlie MacInnis and brother of Zilla MacIsaac (Joe) and Margaret Egan. Loving father of Melanie Cox (Gordie), Margaret Duykers (Ron), Maureen MacInnis-Wheatley (Ross), Melissa MacInnis, Murray MacInnis (Tanya) and Megan Mullally (Dylan). Survived by fourteen loving grandchildren - Matt, Molly and Maggie Cox, Ainsley and Jonah Duykers, Innis, Laura and Sam Wheatley, Calum, Laken and Rosie MacInnis, Cullen, Lara and Maria Mullally. Predeceased by brothers-in-law, Jack Leslie and David Egan. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Fondly remembered by Uldene’s family. A learned and well-travelled man, Mervin dedicated much of his life to teaching, volunteering, and above all caring for others. He will be dearly missed by friends, family, and all who knew him. No visitation at Mervin’s request. Funeral celebration will be held at the Church of The Most Holy Redeemer on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation (www.pmsf.org) or alternatively to a Registered Disability Savings Plan for Mervin's grand-daughter who has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. Rosie held a special place in Papa's heart. Note - Donations can be made at any TD Bank under Rosie MacInnis' name. Completion of funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
