Obituary of Mary Winnifred Currie

Surrounded by her loving family Mary Winnifred Currie passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Brent Currie, daughter of the late Maggie and Ted Stretch, dear sister of Norma Currie (John) and Marion MacPhail (Cecil); sister-in-law of Marie Stretch. Mother to Brenda Yeo (Weldon), Marcia Carter (David), Fay Currie, Brian Currie (Debbie), Susanne DeRoche (Trent) and Clive Currie (Sharon). Grandmother to Stephen MacPhee, Aaron Carter (Christa), Nathan Carter (Heidi), Tim Yeo (Linda Ford), Janel Perry (Steven), Melissa Emmerson (Johnny), Natasha Dongell (Brent), Joel Currie (Megan), Rob Currie (Danielle), Cole Currie, Brooke Currie, Breia Currie, Holly Barrett (Jon), Katie Beder (John) and Zach DeRoche. She will be lovingly remembered by her 14 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her grandson Ted Carter, sister Donna Young and brothers - Fred and Floyd Stretch. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Long Creek Baptist Church at 1 PM. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Following the interment everyone is invited to join the family at Afton Hall for a time of celebration and refreshments. The family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors of Unit 3 for their kindness and excellent care. Completion of funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
