Obituary of Shirley Frances Reid

After a long courageous battle with cancer, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre with dignity and grace, peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 31, 2017 of Shirley Frances (nee Weatherbie) Reid of Emyvale, in her 87th year. Devoted and loving mother of Michele (Louis) Woods and Kevin (Donna Turner) Reid. Adored and very special Nana of Chelsey (Neil) Campbell and Nanny of Adam and Nolan Reid. Beloved sister of Blaine Weatherbie. Loving Sister-in-law of Marguerite (Marg) and Elizabeth (Liz) Weatherbie, Jim Kennedy and LeRoy Goodine. Godmother to Thomas Larkin, Priscilla Weatherbie-Burt and Noella Thompson. Greatly missed by her many nieces, grand-nieces, nephews and grand-nephews, cousins and her many dear and special friends. Predeceased by her parents William Sr. (Bill) and Priscilla (nee Dowling) Weatherbie, her sisters Helen and Olga (died in infancy), Lorraine Flanagan, Teresa/Duda McQuaid, Leona/Bunnie Kennedy, Marlene/Chicken Goodine, her brothers Ralph, George and William Jr. (Billy) Weatherbie, sisters-in-law Marilyn and Norberta Weatherbie, brothers-in-law Jack Flanagan and Austin McQuaid. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford or visitation Monday, April 3, 2017 from 4 - 8 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Anne’s Parish Church, Emyvale at 11 AM. Interment will take place later at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care of PEI Home Care , Queens County and the Provincial Palliative Care Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre or St. Anne’s Cemetery Fund would be appreciated. The CWL will hold a prayers service prior to visitation at 3:30 PM.
