Peter Grandjean

Obituary of Peter William Grandjean

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on March 7th, 2016 of Peter (Piet) William Grandjean, cherished father of Christian (Shawna) Grandjean and the late Brigitte Helen Grandjean, his soulmate and best friend of over 50 years. He leaves to mourn his special grandchildren, Erica Baker and Joshua Baker, his new great grandson, Noah Baker and his only sister in Montreal, Ruth (Mitzi) MacCandlish. Born in Montreal Que., August 23rd, 1928, he spent twelve years in the Canadian Military and twenty years as a Police Officer with the Montreal West Police. After moving to PEI (his Island Home) in 1976, he worked at both The Charlottetown Hotel and CP Hotel as chief of Security. Pop left us this morning with a heart full of love knowing he would be with the Father and reunited with the love of his life, Brigitte (Snooks). He lived his last days on earth with much courage, a stronger faith and with dignity. At Pops personal request there will be no wake or funeral but a celebration of his life will be held at the home of Shawna & Christian Grandjean with internment in West St. Peter’s Cemetery, PEI. At a later date. In his memory, donations may be made to the PEI Humane Society as Pop loved all animals especially his two German Shepherds, Rexy and Penny, who will be waiting at the gates of heaven. Pop---Ich Liebe Dich! We Love You! Until we meet again! Christian, Shawna, & all of our Baker and Grandjean family The Way of Love—Corinthians 13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE. Completion of arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
