Obituary of Anna Eileen MacKenzie

Surrounded by her loving family, Eileen MacKenzie was called to Eternal Life on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario. She was in her 86th year. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Mary Doyle (Alberry Plains, P.E.I.), Bernadette Dunn (Stratford, P.E.I.), Helen MacKenzie (Chateauguay, Quebec) and sister-in-law Georgia MacKenzie (Millview, P.E.I.) She will also be missed by nieces and nephews, especially Anne and Gilles Arguin (and their children) who have been dedicated family to her for many years. Eileen was also blessed to have Nancy Au and Doreen Brown and their families as part of her life. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary (Hynes) MacKenzie and her siblings - John (infant), Angus, Wilbert and Sr. Teresa MacKenzie (Congregation of Notre Dame). Also predeceased by her brothers-in-law James Doyle and Vernon Dunn and sister-in-law Teresa MacKenzie (Boston, Mass.) Eileen was a retired teacher and librarian for the Hamilton Separate School Board. She was also active in the Right to Life movement and in several Catholic Charismatic Renewals. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, P.E.I. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joachim’s Church. Vernon River, P.E.I., on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the P.E.I. Right to Life or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the staff of St. Elizabeth Villa and the staff at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario for the excellent care and friendship they provided to our sister.
