Obituary of Gordon Joseph McGuirk

It is with deep love and fond memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Joseph McGuirk, aged 87, on September 22, 2024, at Whisperwood Villa, where he had formed many cherished friendships. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Mary, and their eldest son, Wayne.

A devoted father to Brenda McKenna (Ed), Kevin (Lynn), Allan (Anne), Jo-Anne O’Connor (Mike), and Darlene McGuirk and father-in-law of Joan McGuirk.  Loving Papa to his grandchildren Jennifer, Emily, Randy, Amy, Brittany, Scott, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Taylor-Anne, and Evan, Gordon’s legacy continues through them and his nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley McManus.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Stella (Kneebone) McGuirk, his brothers Gerald, Eric, Ivan, John, Clifford, Elmer and Ralph, and his sisters Pearl, Isabel, Bertha, Tina, Eileen, Gladys, Doris and Rosemary.

Though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing he is where he wanted to be, with Jesus, Mary, and Wayne, together forever.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 4-6pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 am from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Stratford.  Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada  in his memory.
