While I never had a close relationship with my maternal grandfather, he did live in the many stories my parents shared with my brothers and I as children.
My mother Kim would fascinate us with tall tales of him as a child seeing Amelia Earhart in her plane flying over Charlottetown or the time he skated with Barbara Ann Scott the legendary figure skater. In our heads he seemed almost a folk hero, but my father Gerard would tell stories of our grandfather's war years that Ken had told him and those seemed more serious. As army brats ourselves, we would trace over his war routes on maps laid out and try and understand the battles that had taken place.
As I had gotten older and moved into my own home, I placed this photo of him, smiling his hat askew and his arm around a dog, onto my bookcase with my other grandparents pictures. Just so I could appreciate a snapshot of a happy moment captured in time.
Rest in peace, Ken MacDonald. My dearest condolences to those who knew him.
Hillary

My condolences to all my cousins. Kenny always had such a good sense of humor.. I remember the auction sale days. It must have run in the family as my Mom and I went to many sales too down at The Old Barn. May he rest in peace. From Arlene Doiron.

Though we had a very long distance relationship these past years, I recall fond memories of my childhood with Dad.
A highlight of the week was to attend the Charlottetown Auction Barn. “Best bargains are at the end of the night,” Dad would say and we would haul boxes of treasures home to marvel at each week.
Dad I hope you have finally found peace and that Aunt Marjorie is there waiting with tea and biscuits so you can both have a long chat.
I will cherish all of our good memories together.
Love to all my siblings.
Kim
