Dear Family/close friends of Father Phil:
Such a rare/unique person who will never be forgotten - our consolation that his energy/spirit is still with us. Our mutual friend Sr. Janet Malone (deceased) thought so much of him, and shared many wonderful thoughts/stories over the years re Fr. Phil so I felt privileged to know him; he really cared so very much about people/justice etc. all described so beautifully in the obituary write up. May the memory of good times be of comfort during those lonesome moments. My very best to you all - Judy Donovan Whitty, Music Ministry St. Pius Xth, Ch'town.

To Phil's Family,
Thank you for this wonderful pictorial tribute to Phil. We can tell by the photos that Phil was born with that wonderful, generous, compassionate spirit, so filled with fun and wonder, that he carried within with such humility, dignity, dedication and grace. Every time Phil entered a room love entered with him. It was a cause for great joy to spend an hour or so in his presence every once in awhile; he was a true servant in the very best ways possible. The world has lost an earth angel and none will feel that loss more than you; please accept my sincerest condolences. Emily MacKay, of the Queen St. Noon Time Group.

Heartfelt Sympathy to the Callaghan Family on your tremendous loss of Father Phil. I met Father Phil 40 Years ago through a great friend of his and mine Father Robert H. McNeil. On my first acquaintanceship was in a room filled with approximately 40 people with each one introducing them self and at departure time Father Phil was gifted by calling each one by name. Wow, how clever. This friendship continued and numerous times these two islands Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island came together for wonderful gatherings. Some may say shenanigans but for me it was a time of love, stories, song and dance, and yes by far, the most enjoyable years of my life. Father Phil was a Priest of deep faith, loved all, and was loved by all. Rest Easy Father Phil in the Peace, Joy and Happiness of Heaven.

To Father Phil's Family
My heart is sad upon hearing my Friend, Pastor and Mentor has died. I met Father Phil when I was living in Tracadie. I wasn't living there long, before he visited the Convent and asked me to chair the Liturgy Committee at St. Bonaventure. I was honored. I also asked if I would be able to start a youth choir. He enthusiastically said Yes. I missed him when he left Tracadie. Not long after Phil left Tracadie for his mission in North and South Rustico, Hunter River and St Anne 's in Hope River, he asked me to come and join him there and work as a Pastoral Associate.
I worked with Father Phil and so enjoyed listening to his Wisdom which he shared with me daily and his awesome Sermons which touched me deeply. He always said, 'Audrey you are so good'! I appropriated his affirmations, his Kindness, Joy, Laughter and his Love for his Family, Friends and his Congregations. Rest in Peace Father Phil and Peace on your life in Eternity. May God Bless you his Family with Courage, Strength and Peace in this your time of sorrow and loss.
Blessings and Love,
Audrey M. Brocklehurst

I am saddened to hear Father Phil has left this world. He was the priest at UPEI when I was studying there. I had many conversations with Father Phil, both inside and outside of the church. I always left those conversations with a smile on my face. He had an infectious smile. We had many laughs. I remember he would be at our Lady Panther Basketball Games cheering us on. So many great memories.
I send sincere condolences to his family and friends. May you find peace in your hearts in the future .

I wish to extend condolences to the Callaghan family; although I hadn't seen Phil since the mid-seventies, we were fellow students from senior high through SDU/UPEI. Reading the obituary reminded me of Phil's candor, strong opinions and the manner in which he reached out to so many.
