Leo was a stand-up guy from a generation who didn't stop working until the job was done. The huge turnout at the wake is a tribute to the great respect so many including me had for him. We all have a challenge to meet his high standards for caring for others and the community he lived in. Son Cosmo wrote this from where he's working in France: " 96 innings! Helluva run and a helluva fella". I couldn't agree more.

We are so sorry to hear of Leo's passing. I sat with Mom and Dad last night and read them the obituary. What an absolutely beautfiully written obituary for a wonderful man.
Unfortunately, Mom & Dad will not be able to attend the wake or funeral as they left for Halifax this morning for a medical prodecure for Mom. When they return and Mom is feeling up to it, they will be up to visit with Florence. They look forward to enjoying a cup of tea and sharing beautiful memories of Leo.
Sending our most sincere condolenses. Much love and comfort to you all as you celebrate the life of such a wonderful man.

Dear Sheila, and all who are mourning the passing of your beloved Dad. You loved your Dad so much, that was very evident as many conversations we had during our time at Sherwood Elementary included a story about him. It sounds like his end of life was a blessed one surrounded by those who adored him. Take comfort in that and in the joy he brought to you all over your lifetime. With love and sympathy, Marion, Chris and Isaac Hendrickson

Loving best wishes to my PEI family adjusting to the death of Uncle Leo. He was a masterful storyteller and a terrific human being. The obituary is a brilliant tribute to the man. One can’t help but smile, especially at the reference to his skills evaluating the weather from his kitchen perch. Thinking of you all.

My condolences to you, Florence and family. Leo was definitely a bright light in the lives of so many - and you only needed to meet him once to know what a special person he was. I especially enjoyed his great sense of humor - he always had great stories and a sense of mischief and fun. I remember one time I ended up a little stuck in a snow drift in the hills somewhere between Kinross & Caledonia. Leo happened by in the plow, stopped to ensure I was OK, and said he'd be back to help after clearing further down the road. I was pretty proud of my driving skills (up to that point at least) and I figured I might be in for some pretty solid teasing if he had to pull me out. While it would have definitely been in good nature, I was motivated to get myself out of the drift before he made it back! I'm sure he likely teased me for getting stuck...

I can hardly believe I am reading this. It makes me sad for you all but happy for him as I am sure he is in heaven. I only had the pleasure of meeting Leo the day he was discharged last week. He told the doctor he was going home and that he did. Dr. Magennis was teasing him and they bantered back and forth while I watched in wonder of this wonderful man so youthful. I'm just so sorry for your loss. Xo
