Elinor Stevens

Obituary of Elinor Mae Stevens

Peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, while in palliative care at her home in Stratford, El Stevens passed away, two weeks short of her 90th birthday, 17 April, 1934.

Born and raised in Winnipeg but proud of the fact that she ‘LIVED EVERYWHERE MAN’. She was a hospital lab technician and worked in hospitals in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Penticton, Honolulu and Guelph. El was the loving wife of 60 years to Don and mother to Ken (Irina) and daughter Wendy. Grandmother to Conrad, Henry, Joshua, Peter, and Sean. Sister to Joyce Hay and David Hagborg. El was predeceased by her parents and daughter, Cheryl.

El’s larger than life personality, optimism and enthusiasm for adventure will be remembered by those who knew her well. She was an avid gardener, expert skier, very competitive duplicate bridge and checkers player.

The Stevens family extends their gratitude to the doctors and nurses in unit 8 at QEH and especially to the PEI Home Care staff that made her care at home possible.

No visitation by personal request. In keeping with El’s wishes, she was cremated.

A short memorial service will be held at the Hillsboro Funeral Home Chapel on April 17, 2024 at 11 am.
