Obituary of Janet Marie Phelan

Peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Beach Grove Home, Charlottetown Janet Marie Phelan (nee Smallwood) passed away, one day short of her 80^th birthday, March 31st, 1944.

Loving mother to Alan (Margie), Brian (Darlene), Wayne (Shiho) and Karen Cooper (Craig).  Dear grandmother of Dalbert Livingstone; Shion, Tyler, Leo and Sophie Phelan; Megan and Maddy Phelan; Lyn and Nolan Cooper.  Great-grandmother to Ty and Wade Livingstone.

Beloved sister to Arlene Mamye, Shirley Hughes, Marjorie Gyurus, Diane Smallwood, Ralph, Joe, Teddy, Henry, Jimmy and David Smallwood.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Sheldon and Annie (Kelly) Smallwood and her loving husband Constable William “Billy” Phelan. 

Janet’s radiant smile, remarkable laugh and upbeat spirit is remembered by those who knew her well.   A Saturday night hoedown, card game with friends and family and a full glass of wine nearby will forever remain symbols of her presence.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 2 from 4pm to 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Stratford on Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30 am. 

Interment will take place later at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
