Obituary of Jean Williamson

Peacefully at the Beach Grove Home on Thursday, July 30, 2026 the death occurred of Margaret “Jean” Williamson (MacPherson) formerly of Stratford and Charlottetown, age 87 years. 

She was the mother of three boys whom she loved dearly through many ups and downs. She began teaching in a one room school house in Brackley before settling into a long career at Queen Charlotte Junior High School. She taught for over 30 years, enjoying her many students. She was an avid bridge player both competitively and socially and was an even more avid reader. Her main passion however was caring for the many flower gardens around her home.

Jean is the mother of Calvin MacPhail (Marcia Peters), Murray MacPhail (deceased) and Paul MacPhail (John Hatton). Loving Nanny to Eric MacPhail, Estelle MacPhail, Grace Roberts and Hugh Roberts. Jean will also be missed by her cousin Winston Chandler who she considered more like a brother. Predeceased by parents George Calvin and Margaret Jane (Chandler) MacPherson, her husband Angus Williamson, son Murray and grandson Christopher MacPhail Driscoll.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 9:45-10:45 am followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am.  Interment will take place at the Portage Cemetery, Oyster Bed Bridge.
