Obituary of Donnie Sheidow
Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the death occurred of Donald Douglas Sheidow of Stratford, age 63 years.
Loving father of Matthew and father-in-law of Story. Beloved Poppy to Jack, Wren, and Ira, and survived by Matthew's mother, Karen. Donnie will be deeply missed by his brother Jeffrey (Charlene); sisters Joanne and Lori (Blaise) and remembered as Uncle Donnie by his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Predeceased by his parents Douglas Gordon and Mary “Sandra” (MacKenzie) Sheidow.
Donnie was a pillar of every community he touched. Proudly serving as a Fisheries Officer with the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans for over 40 years, Donnie dedicated his professional life to protecting Prince Edward Island's marine resources and coastal areas. His love of the water flowed far beyond his career. When he wasn't working on the water, he was eager to be back on his boat, fishing whenever he had the chance. A phenomenal angler, he seemed to know every drop of PEI water as though he had placed it there himself. He brought this passion with him on so many adventures, chasing tight lines both on and off of the Island with his friends.
An accomplished athlete, Donnie will also be remembered as a fierce and skilled competitor in hockey, baseball, golf, and curling. Whether in sport or throughout his recent health struggles, he faced every challenge with determination, courage, and strength.
For Donnie, the common thread woven through his family, career, sports, and hobbies was friendship. His greatest gift was his ability to build and maintain lifelong connections. Each person who knew him will have a story of how he helped them beyond what anyone would expect. The friendships he made were among the greatest joys of his life.
We invite all who knew and loved Donnie to join our family in celebrating his life by sharing the stories of how he touched theirs.
