Several years Donnie and his special friends had a privilege to attend a salmon fishing adventure on Anticosti Island, Quebec. His job as Fishery Officer albeit challenging and requiring a demeanour of toughness perhaps at times But he had a soft spot to, as he is decorating a cupcake birthday cake at the La Louvre River Lodge in 2021. We miss you my friend, and so we shall meet you soon to share tight lines in a place where friends shall be together again. Blessings to all of the family and his workmates who share Donnie's life. Amen

Word of Donnie’s passing brought a flood of memories of good times shared while at Holland College, DFO (especially the early days in the Harbourside office) and bbqs and parties on Penny Lane. Every September since 1980 brings thoughts of his birthday and his joy of celebrating all the good things in life. There is no doubt that his grin and sincerest warm hugs will be remembered by all who knew him. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and those who loved him most. I will continue to toast his birthday.

Dona and I are so saddened re Donnie’s passing. Our most sincere condolences to Matt and all the family members. Especially Jeff and Lori, as we didn’t have the privilege of meeting the rest of the siblings.
I met Donnie during my time at Holland College. Even back then his gregariousness and respect from other students was evident. And his support and suggestions for what I trying to accomplish as the head sports and recreation was invaluable.
As time progressed we became good buddies ( fishing ,boating & the odd beer.) His dedication to his profession and his friends was a tribute to the man he was. Whenever we had spent some time together and were about to part our ways he would always say give Dona a hug for me and love you Buddy. As we all know, that was the Donnie we all knew and loved. Dona thought the world of him, as we all did. I loved him as well and will sorely miss him.
At this time , our thoughts are with all Donnie’s Family and friends.

Sorry to hear about Donnie’s passing . While we were not close friends I remember him from baseball days and to say he was competitive is not close to how he played the game , he was a formidable opponent and a great asset to the teams he played on . RIP Donnie . And my sincere condolences to all family and extended families and friends.

Donnie was a life long friend and relation. We played sports against each other over our younger years. Never forget when Donnie came to Calgary for Canadian fastball championships and we spent a day on the Bow River fly fishing with a few of our friends….think about that often! Rest in peace Donnie.

My sincere thoughts and deepest condolences to Donnie's family, friends and DFO brothers and sisters. I only had the opportunity connecting with Donnie last year, after I aquired the Zodiac Hurricane rib he operated from day one since 2001, that was sold through Crown Assets. I had many lengthy conversations with Donnie after the fact, getting knowledge and history on the boat, that was extremely helpful to me, that he afforded me his time willingly helping me with the history of the Zodiac, even tracking down some missing items that should of went with the boat. We had a lot of funny conversations of his time he looked after his baby he stated and hated to see it go. Lots of good conversations for sure. I was very sadden to learn of Donnie's passing yesterday through another DFO member in Nova Scotia. I will hold his memory strong while using the Zodiac within our Non-Profit Search and Rescue organization here in New Brunswick, putting a special tribute to Donnie on the inside of his Zodiac. May you RIP Donnie, we will take the helm from here my friend, fair winds. Randall Goodwin

Thanks for this and glad to hear that boat is being used appropriately. He kept it parked in the yard at home rather than the warehouse at work when I was a kid because he was the only office who could operate it at the time. For many years myself and the neighborhood kids used that boat as a jungle gym and would climb all over it, playing pirates for hours. If you ever want to sell it, make sure to call me first!
