Obituary of Jane Porterfield
Peacefully, with her family by her side, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Jane Porterfield of Charlottetown passed away.
Born in Nottingham, England, Jane was raised in Rouyn Noranda, Quebec, by her late parents, Leo and Rejane (Bourassa) Porterfield. She is survived by the loves of her life—her four children, Kate (Corey), Margaret (Adam), Stewart (Emily), and Edward (Taneisha). She also leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Joseph and Alexander, who brought her endless joy.
Jane wasn’t perfect, but she was perfectly herself—and we wouldn’t have wanted her any other way. She loved deeply, laughed often, and never missed the chance for a clever remark. Her quick wit, generous heart, and fierce love for her family made life brighter for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be missed beyond words, she will be remembered in every smile she inspired, every story shared, and every laugh that echoes because of her.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. A Celebration of Life will be held at a time and date to be announced. No visitation by family request. If so desired, memorial donations in Jane’s memory may be made online to the P.E.I. Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.
Jane’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Andrew Kielly, Dr. Soon-IL Song, and the compassionate staff of Unit 8 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with special thanks to nurse Kaylene for her exceptional kindness, compassion, and care.
Dear Mama,
We hope you’re dancing in the sky, free from pain and surrounded by peace. Thank you for your love, your laughter, and the countless memories you’ve given us.
You taught us that life wasn’t about being perfect—it was about loving fiercely, laughing often, and finding joy in the little moments. We will carry those gifts with us always.
You will be forever loved, forever missed, and never, ever forgotten.
