Obituary of John Patrick Shanahan

We regret to announce the peaceful passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, July 4, 2026 of John Patrick Shanahan of Johnson’s River. Beloved husband of Margaret (Matheson) and dear father of Billy. Grandfather to Riley and Sadie Squires (their mother Sam Squires). Brother of Carol MacAulay (David), Frank Shanahan (Donalda), Linda MacNeill (Doug), Paul Shanahan (Sally). Son-in-law of John and Anita Macdonald. Brother-in-law of June Shanahan, Kay Court, Laurie Callbeck (Trevor) and Karen Coffin.  John is also fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Uldene Shanahan, by his son Tyler and brother Brian Shanahan. John is in the care of Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. A visitation will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2026 from  5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday July 8, 2026 at 10 am. Interment in Cross Roads Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made online to Pat and the Elephant.
