Obituary of Wayne Smith

Peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday April 13, 2026 the death occurred of Charles “Wayne” Smith of Stratford, age 74 years.  

Beloved husband of Susan Smith (Squarebriggs). Loving father of Michael (Erin MacDonald) and Mitchell Smith. Cherished grandfather of Hayden Smith, Keira, Liam and Ian Cieczkowski. Great grandfather of Deejay Cieczkowski. Wayne will be missed by his sisters Marie O’Shea-MacDonald, Anna Murphy, Florence Dalton (Peter); brothers Cecil Villard (Carolyn) and Joseph MacDougall (Beverly). Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary McEachern (Curran) and by his sisters Doris Hartman, Pauline Hughes, and by his brothers Albert McEachern, Gerard McEachern and Harry Hennessey.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 23, 2026 from 4-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held from St Patrick’s Church Fort Augustus on Friday, April 24 2026 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place later at the St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery, Fort Augustus.

Memorial donations may be made online to the Humane Society or the Cancer Treatment of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
