Emily, Bailey and Chloe
We go through our lives meeting many people and everyone impacts us in such different ways. Your Dad was someone really special to us. He was a gem, a real funny guy whom we instantly connected with.
He loved gum chewing, had quirky sayings and was such a spiffy dresser for a farmer! We had the pleasure of becoming friends with Carey over 8 years ago. He visited us in Ontario and we had fun showing him the sites. He took his first ever Caribbean vacation with us (for an island boy who didn't like the water, he actually got in the ocean).
Carey was game for anything! Not so sure he anticipated that he would be riding on a motorcycle with two other men to get chicken for dinner! A roasted chicken in his one hand and holding on for dear life with the other!
We so appreciated the times he opened his home to us when we visited PEI and loaned us his car. Always quick with a joke, he could dish it out and take it as well. He was so generous, very kindhearted and had passion for fixing anything that was broken. We had conversations about lots of different things, including all of you! He was a proud father and grandfather.
Though we lived in different provinces and saw each other only yearly he was that guy that we could just pick up where we left off. Just in a recent text he was talking about his truck he's been working on since 2020, one he's had since he was 16.
To his family and all those lives he touched in so many ways, we pray that our Lord and Savior will sustain you through this heart breaking loss. Lean into Him and may His loving arms give you strength and comfort.
Our deepest sympathy,
Paul and Catherine Boudreau

Janet and I were so sad to hear the tragic news of Carey’s passing. To the family, our sincere condolences! I got to know Carey during the time I worked at Visser Farms. Carey was a real community guy, always willing to help and lend a hand when things needed fixing. We have been praying our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’s comfort during this difficult time for his daughters, grandchildren, extended family, the G Visser & Sons farm community and the greater Belfast community as a whole, especially the children!!

So sorry to hear of Carey's passing. Condolences to Gillis family. Remember Carey from being our bus driver at Belfast School, he always had a smile and treated everyone fairly and equally. At christmas time and end of the school year he would have a can of pop and candy canes for all the students on the bus and would even give an extra candy cane or pop for siblings who were once students. Rest easy Carey.
