Obituary of Bob Brown
Robert “Bob” Joffre James Brown passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on January 30, 2026. At his side to the end was his beloved wife Anne Morrison-Brown. His greatest love and partner in life’s adventures. Together they took one last trip from their home in Scarborough, Ontario to settle in PEI shortly before his passing where he enjoyed Christmas celebrations and ringing in the new year surrounded by family, good food, hugs and laughter.
Born in Waikari hospital in the South Island of New Zealand on October 12,1943 to Joffre and Kathleen. Bob was brother to Helen Ivory of Australia, Graeme (Kate) and Janice Allan (John) of New Zealand.
During his childhood and teenage years Bob lived on a sheep farm in North Canterbury, New Zealand. As a teenager he was interested in designing and building structures following in his father’s footsteps who made most of the furniture in their home. At age 15 Bob started with a builder and completed his apprenticeship by age 20. With his keen spirit to travel the world, encouraged by his mother and inspired by National Geographic magazines, he left New Zealand at age 22 to see the world.
Bob was a talented and successful carpentry craftsman and project manager who had a passion for constructing beautiful homes and buildings. His work took him as a young man to Western Australia, South-East Asia, England and then to Canada where he lived in Calgary, Alberta and then Scarborough, Ontario where retired with a legacy of great projects, respect of his colleagues and many friends. Across the world and decades, he brought his first tool he owned, a saw, that is a treasured piece of his history and remains with him now.
Robert “Bob” Brown will always be remembered for his gentle and kind demeanor, sweet smile and thoughtful words. Fondly remembered by family and friends near and far.
