Obituary of Dot Power
With sadness but with gratitude for a long, well lived life, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Dorothy "Dot" Power at the Garden Home on Sunday, January 11, 2026, age 100 years.
Dot was born April 12, 1925 in Summerville, PEI to the late Harold and Hilda (Corcoran) Dunn. She is predeceased by her husband Louis in 2009 and her son Mervin in 2023. She is survived by her sons George (Pat), Earl (Hennie), daughter Geraldine “Geri” Morrison (Frank), daughter-in-law Mary, 10 grandchildren; Kenny, Paul, Kim, lan, Susan, Greg, Megan, Amy, Melissa, Lana; 10 great-grandchildren; Jalisa, Tyson, Easton, Jordan, Jill, Sarah, Matt, Ivy, Louis and Simon and 3 great-great-grandchildren Piper, Pete and Lila. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law; Bernadette Dunn, Bertha Dunn, Joanne Dunn and several nieces and nephews. Dot was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by her siblings Frances, Vernon, Ray, Joe, Mary, Florence, Mick and Tom.
Dot and her late husband, Louis, worked together for many years at Addiction Services helping many families. Dot enjoyed bingo, card games, harness racing, was an award winning baker and knitter and loved family gatherings. She was a member of Holy Redeemer CWL.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 4-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer Thursday at 10:30 am. Interment later at St. Joachim's Cemetery, Vernon River.
