Obituary of Evelyn Thelma Gillis

Evelyn Thelma Gillis left us peacefully at the Riverview Manor on Dec 4, 2025. Born June 7, 1934, to Fulton and Pearl (Cousins) Cook, Thelma grew up in Cape Wolfe. As a young woman, she joined the RCAF and became a photographer. During her time in the Air Force, she met and married John Wilfred Gillis and together they later returned to Kilmuir, PEI, to raise their 4 children. Thelma was preceded in death by her eldest son Cressy, and her siblings Roland and Marion (MacMillan). She is survived by her sisters Myrna Cook and Karen Cook of Cape Wolfe and by her children Cathy (King) of Dallas, Carey of Melville, and Chuck (Linda) of Kilmuir. She is also remembered by her 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. Many thanks to the staff at Riverview Manor who took such great care of her and also to The Gillis Lodge. A celebration of Thelma's life is to be held at a later date.
