David Ball

Obituary of David Ball

With broken hearts, we share that David Ball, 60, hailing from North Sydney, Nova Scotia, passed away on November 12th, 2025, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Though his time with us ended far too soon, the love, steadiness, and kindness he showed throughout his life will continue to echo in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Born on June 28th, 1965 in Sydney to Albert Jackson Ball and Jacqueline Anne Ball, née Mansfield. David grew up in North Sydney, a place that shaped his hardworking spirit and his deep love to the people he called family. He attended Memorial Composite High School and later studied at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, building the foundation for a life defined by hard work and resilience.

David’s path included many roles and accomplishments, but it was the way he lived, not just what he did, that made him unforgettable. Whether working at Biovectra or spending his time with his family, David showed up with a quiet strength and a willingness to help that never wavered.

He had passions that lit him up from the inside out. David loved the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle, the joy of keeping rhythm behind a drum kit, and the energy of playing in bands like Old Town road, The Salt Water Dogs, and many others over the years. Music was one of his greatest joys, and anyone who heard him play could feel the heart he poured into it.

But above all, David’s greatest devotion was to the people he loved. He was known for his calm, grounding presence. He was a comforting listener; someone you could go to when life felt heavy. He had a rare ability to ease stress with just a few words, a steady conversation, or simply his company. He was the person you called when you didn’t know what to do next, and he always made you feel less alone.

David was exceedingly proud of his two sons, Lucas and Noah, who were the light of his life. He found deep happiness with his partner, Edelaine, and cherished his role as stepfather to Muriel and grandfather to Brae. His love for his family was constant, generous, and unshakable.  David will be missed by his beloved dog Gary.

Predeceased by his father Albert Ball, mother Jaqueline Ball and brother Brady Mansfield.

He is survived by his partner Edelaine; his sons Lucas and Noah; stepdaughter Muriel; granddaughter Brae; and his sisters Kathy (Glen) Heighton and Nicole (Steve) MacDonald; nieces and nephews Leah (Tyler), Adam, Reagan & Reese; great nieces and nephews Jasper, Jolene & Jackson.

He leaves behind a wide circle of family, friends, bandmates, and community members who will feel his absence profoundly but will hold tightly to the memories he gave them.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, with a funeral service on Friday, November 21st starting at 11am. All who loved him are welcome to gather, share stories, and carry forward his spirit of warmth, music, and unwavering support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to the PEI Humane Society.
