Obituary of Lawrence Joseph McGuirk
At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, October 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and family, the death occurred peacefully of Lawrence Joseph McGuirk of Webster's Corner, age 82 years. Beloved husband of 52 years to Freda McGuirk (McQuillan).
Loving father of Larry, Leanne Rosa (Tim) and Charlie McGuirk (Angela) and Eddie MacLaren, Gary MacLaren (JoAnn), Debbie Laverty (Gabriel), Michelle Baird (Frank), Dana MacLaren (Frank) and Danny MacLaren (Kim). Cherished grandfather of Blake, Melissa, Myles, Sherri Lynn, Jamie, Meggan, Kathleen, Garrett, Christopher, Benjamin, Jacob, Tylor, Jayden, Donovan and Raya. Great-grandfather of 18 great-grandchildren. Lawrence will be missed by his siblings Bernice Callaghan, Henry (Sharon), Rosalie McCloskey and Rita Coady and by his sister-in-law Nancy McGuirk. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and the McQuillan family. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Frances (Garland) McGuirk, parents-in-law Joseph and Gertrude McQuillan, siblings Teresa Overall (Frank) and Albert and brothers-in-law Desmond Callaghan, John Beck and John Coady.
On 2 occasions in the presence of his wife and family he was administered the Last Rights of the Roman Catholic Church. Lawrence's family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for the care and attention shown to Lawrence and family from Dr. Murphy, Dr. O’Brien and the nursing staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held from St. Patrick’s Church, Fort Augustus on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery.
