Obituary of Florence Charlotte Vos
Surrounded by the love of her family, Florence Charlotte Vos (Chandler) of Stratford, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 21, 2025, aged 89 years.
Born in Scotland, Florence’s life was a full and meaningful one; by the time she turned 18, she had already lived in India, been evacuated from her home to avoid WWII bombings, and beaten tuberculosis. She built rich, long-lasting friendships and left every place she went (be it to live, work or visit) better than when she arrived. She emigrated to Canada as a young woman, and met the love her life, Andy, in the Yukon. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and purpose, eventually settling in PEI where they raised their three children – David (Sarah), Lara, and Jonathan (Maribeth). Florence was a devoted mother, gifted teacher, talented writer, lifelong volunteer and loyal friend whose welcoming spirit touched all who knew her. She was very proud of her family and found great joy in her grandchildren – John Alex, Helena, Bella, Patrick, Elizabeth, Lindsay, Andrew, and Amelia. Florence will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife to Andy, a proud and nurturing mother, an adoring grandmother, a cherished sister to Joyce (Sandy) with whom she shared a lifelong bond, and a kind and caring friend. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Isabelle (Whittaker) Chandler, her sister Elizabeth (John) and brother Tom (Kay).
