We were so shocked and extremely saddened to get a call that our dear friend Florence, had passed away. We've know her since before she married her love, Andy, and have spent many happy days with them and their family on PEI on holidays. Florence was a wonderful mentor, teacher, hard worker, and family oriented lady who had such strong values but never lost her sense of humour. her caring nature, and her friendliness and hospitality to all. She made a huge contribution to Canadian society and will sorely be missed. We all loved you Florence.

I did not know that Florence had passed until just now. I am so sorry to miss the wake and funeral services. Florence was a dear friend. She volunteered at Immanuel Christian School and also taught French when I was teaching there in early 2000s. Both her and Andy had such a gift of hospitality. She had so many friends.. my sincere condolences to Andy and the family. Colleen Peric

My condolences Vos family. Florence gave so much to us during our stays at their house. Engaging conversation, cozy comfy hospitality that soothed the soul and gave us rest, a place to come home to when we we’re away from home. She was a strong person, who encourages the soul. Strength and peace to you in the days ahead. Rob Visser

When my sister married David, she got a new mother-in-law but oddly enough my siblings and I also got a source of love. Florence made us all feel we were her family too. She opened her home for family holidays, for delicious meals, and shared stories with laughter and love. To be in Florence’s presence was to feel love. She was always a highlight of my trips home. I will miss her dearly. I am smiling as I write this as I can hear Florence using the word dear as she so often did. My condolences to Andy David, Laura and Jonathan and all her beautiful grandchildren.

I first met Florence when we were both working in the Education System. I got to know her better when we both served on the Family Committee for Habitat for Humanity. There I got to see her compassionate and caring personality. We went on to be members of the same writing club for twenty years. There we were treated to wonderful stories about her life in Scotland and
the North. Don and I very much valued the friendship of Florence and Andy. We will miss Florence deeply.
Our sympathies to Andy, David, Lara and Jonathan and the grandchildren of whom Florence was so very proud.

Sincere condolences to Andy, David, Lara, Jonathan and families on the passing of Florence.
I have such fond memories of joining your Mother for coffee and chats on a regular basis. As well I went to Bible Study at the Christian Reformed Church weekly. The coffee group and discussions were very special to me.
Whenever your Grandmother Chandler would visit, I was always invited to tea and loved listening to the stories of Scotland.
The loss of a parent and grandparent is sad and as the days go by, you will member her in your own special ways.

Florence belonged to the same writing group as I did for 20 years, She was a delightful woman with a welcoming presence and a passion for living, family and writing. She created vivid and detailed stories from a remarkable memory and kept her readers spellbound. Visits with her and Andy at their home or in our group gatherings were memorable. Love of family was key to them and Florence seemed to be the perfect model for the children. It was a privilege to know her and be with her. Bernie and I send sincere condolences to Andy and her family. Shirley Callaghan

My deepest condolences. Aunt Florence was an incredible woman who meant so much to me. Ever since I moved to the East Coast, she welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like part of the family. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine care will always stay with me. I’ll never forget the way she made me feel seen and supported—she truly had a heart of gold. Thinking of you all during this time.

Dearest Andy, David, Lara, Jonathan and your families.
Sending condolences from New Zealand. Although my time with Florence was limited by distance, her close bond with sister Elizabeth kept our families close.
I have very fond memories of Auntie Florence - from receiving amazing Christmas gifts as a child, the family visits, to later being able to visit her and Andy in Barbados and again in PEI.
Truly a life well lived and an amazing lady who was well loved.

Andy and Florence hosted us several times when we visited PEI. I will always cherish the warmth and comfort of their home and the way Florence encouraged a love of reading, writing and learning. I had many good talks with her and enjoyed her stories of life in the Yukon. Truly a beautiful person, I will remember and cherish her always.
