It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Alexander "Sandy" Pike of Stratford, PEI, announces his peaceful passing at the age of 90.

Sandy leaves behind his beloved fiancé of over 30 years, Arlene Power, his cherished children Tanya Alexopoulos (Alex), Toby Pike (Phil Carr), Todd Pike (Justine Callahan), Tracey Ondrovic (Frank), and Lorna Pike (mother of his children), all from Ottawa. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Martin, Jack, Ford, Estelle and Vincent. Brother of Gerald Pike and brother-in-law of Emma Pike, Gail Pike and Sterling Hickox (Jane Wilson). Sandy will also be missed by a large circle of extended family and friends, including his dear neighbors Rose and Anne.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Agnes Pike, as well as his siblings: Marguerite LeBlanc, Geraldine Lacey, Jean Graham, Doreen, Kevin, Roland, Aloysius, Cornelius, and Aubrey Pike. Sandy leaves behind a legacy rooted in the community of St. Lawrence, Newfoundland.

Sandy was truly one of the best, known for his kind heart, sharp wit, and remarkable memory. He had a great sense of humor and could always bring a smile to those around him. An unbeatable cribbage player, he never let you forget a lost game. His days often began at the kitchen table, coffee in hand—instant, with Carnation milk—ready for a chat or a tease.

After a fulfilling career with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Sandy retired, Master Warrant Officer, at the age of 55 and returned to Prince Edward Island, where he had been stationed early in his career. It was there that he met Arlene and began a joyful chapter filled with visits from family, friends and neighbors, and the simple pleasures of Island life.

Though Sandy lived with COPD and heart disease in his later years, his spirit never wavered. Disciplined and structured, a trait carried from his military service, he remained sharp, humorous, and deeply caring until the very end.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Interment later at Orwell Head Cemetery.  In memoriam online donations to the Lung Association of NS & PEI would be appreciated.

Completed arrangements entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
