Father Art was a members of SDU '62 my graduating class too. I had known him for many years. At our 50th Class of 52 Reunion he celebrated the Mass. He spoke with grace and power. I was very proud of him.
I remember Father Art as a witty, quiet, humble man- all characteristics of a Servant of the Lord..
My sympathy to his remaining family , relatives and the Class of '62.

My sincere sympathy to Anne Connolly, Fr. Art's sister, sister-in-law Florence O'Shea and his many nieces and nephews. Fr. Art served as chaplain at Mount St. Mary's and the Precious Blood Monastery for several years. He was a very sincere and pleasant person. We are distant cousins and Fr. Art was conscious of that. I believe that it was no accident that Fr Art spent his last days at The Mount, at a place where all of our sisters knew and remembered his many celebrations of the Eucharist. At The Mount the staff, relatives, priests and sisters provided for him in his last days not only physical care but emotional care and spiritual care via music, prayer and Bible readings at his bedside.. May God bless each of you in your grieving journey.

To Fr. Art's family, I offer my condolence though I can imagine he would say, "I've had a good life and my work is finished so don't be sad." I mainly knew Fr. Art through our mutual love of music. One winter I was accompanying the Senior College Choir singers hosted at Park Royal United and he was a lovely singer in that group. That is how I found out as well that he was a vg violinist. It was my privilege to accompany him several times as he played beautiful pieces; not that many months ago, we hoped to get together and make music again. Fr. Art was also obliging! I have a passion for hymns learned in Latin and he lent me his copy of the very old St. Basil hymn book so he and a number of us (eg Philip Mullaly) could have a sing-through. Fr. Art intended to join us one of those times but his health prevented that in the end. When I needed to find a home for some books that were 100+ yrs. old (some in Latin) he agreed to start a mini library at the Diocesan Centre. I will miss our friendship but treasure the memories and hope that is the same for you during those lonesome moments. His spirit/energy are ever near. My very best, Judy Donovan Whitty

Father Art was the inspiration a number of years ago to have formation for the laity in the diocese. I was one of 30+ people who attended these sessions once a month for 3 years. Sponsored by the diocese they were wonderful times of learning, faith renewal and community building. Father Art and I spoke about a reunion before both of us were gone and of course he was all for it! He is now united with so many who have passed on since the course. Always remember his wisdom, his laughter, his support of our abilities. God bless him. God has blessed us with Fr. Art's presence and love. Claudia Batchilder, LPA

Father Art was a great friend to heritage as well as to his faith. And that made him a great friend to all of us. I am grateful for the many ways that he assisted my research over many years. Bless him and bless his memory.

My Deepest condolences to Father Art O'Shea's Family, and Friends. In this difficult time I pray for all that are hurting, and mourning for the Passing of Father Art O'Shea. I had the Privilege of meeting Father Art only a couple times, but I have to say, what a very caring, loving, knowledgeable and all around easy man he was to talk with. I only wish I had more chances to talk with Father, but Jesus had really big plans for Father Art, and our Lord thought he would be the best fit for this big plan we won't know about, but he's already watching down on all. I wanted to also say unfortunately because of my disabilities that accessing inside St. Dunstan's Parish is almost impossible, as I wanted to honour Father Art by being an Honour Guard, but unfortunately because of the situation with my electric wheelchair I'm not able to attend. I do want to say, first, to Father Art O'Shea, it was an absolute honour to be given a couple chances to meet and talk with you, and also i know you're in heaven, a new man, smiling down at all, and with Jesus Christ and all his Angels and Saints along with you now, you will get to rest. To all the precious family members and friends, again, my deepest condolences, and my apologies that I could not proceed in aiding as an Honour Guard due to my accessibility issues. To Father Art O'Shea, it's not goodbye, it's see you definitely one day, and you will always be remembered and also in our hearts. When Jesus called his son Father Art O'Shea, that he always loved & created in his own image, Jesus came down, and with his gentle and mighty hands came to take Father Art's hand to graciously guide him up to Heaven. God bless Father Art O'Shea, & all friends and family,
Sir Paul HJ LaPointe Jr, Faithful Pilot & Permanant Honour Guard, from The Most Holy Redeemer Parish and Council #7748, & Father George Belcourt Assembly #1867.
P.s to Honour Father Art, I wanted to piece & put together a special picture in Father Art's Honour, and myself in to let him know he will always be remembered.
VIVAT JESUS!
