Obituary of Rev. Dr. Gordon Johnstone Matheson

With sadness and heavy hearts the family of Reverend Dr. Gordon Johnstone Matheson share the news of his death at Whisperwood Villa, Charlottetown on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the age of 91 years.

Beloved husband and best friend of 69 years to Azalia Matheson (Guy). Loving father of Guy Matheson (deceased), Dr. Grant Matheson (Paulette) and Leza Matheson. Cherished grandfather of Angela Matheson (Donald Richards), Janessa Wolters (Michael Arsenault), Emma Matheson, Hannah Matheson, Malek Wolters (Allie) and Jill Matheson. Great-grandfather of Eliza, Sebastian, Charlee, Azalia, Willem and Amelia.

Rev. Matheson faithfully answered his divine call to the ministry with grace, devotion, and unwavering faith. Through his service, he touched countless lives, guiding many with the love and teachings of Christ. His legacy of faith, compassion, and commitment will forever be cherished, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Hannah (MacDonald) Matheson and by his son Guy Matheson.

Visiting hours will be held at Zion Presbyterian Church, Charlottetown on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 3-6 pm. 

The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1 pm from Zion Presbyterian Church, Charlottetown.  The funeral service will be live streamed and it may be viewed by clicking the Funeral Service button or using the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT7TPULzITw

Interment will take place later at the Calvin Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mermaid.
