Thelma was born May 9, 1937 in Kensington, PEI and was raised with her brother and sister by their parents, William and Lulu (Somers) Cameron.  Mother Lulu was taken from them much too early when Thelma was six years old.  She was raised in her Aunt Eletha’s family in Summerside, PEI.

Thelma trained and was teaching by age sixteen in Mount Albion, PEI before her work path changed to psychiatric nursing at Hillsborough Hospital. Throughout her long nursing career Thelma was devoted to her patients and improving their limited lives.  After getting married in 1958, she lived in Hazelbrook, PEI where she and her husband Sterling raised their family and turned The Butter Factory House into a loving family home.

She loved and cherished her family, neighbours and friends.  Thelma had a strong faith, a quick tongue, a sharp mind and loved hugs. Church activities, knitting, crocheting and homemade bread were always pivotal in her home.
